Claire Chosid's GardenGardening has been my passion for quite a while. As a teenager, I had
a small flower garden outside my bedroom window. When I married and got
a place of my own, I couldn't wait to test my skills at my new home. Three
houses and twenty-five years later, I have the gardens and home of my
dreams. I have an acre of land with many mature trees, including a majestic
150 year old cottonwood tree. I have numerous perennial beds surrounding
my pool and side yard. I get most of my perennials from Gilberg's Perennials
in Glencoe. I love Weithops for spring annuals and Ballwin Nursery for
trees and shrubs. I do have occasional problems with the deer attacking
my plants. I have learned that they never browse lambs ears, foxglove,
catmint, iris, columbine, to name a few. I spend most every day doing
something in my yard. I don't have a sprinkler system, so I spend a good
deal of time carting around a hose and sprinkler. But when I look at my
flowers at the end of the day, I realize it's all worth it.
